Volunteer at Woolley Farms!
What’s Happening at the Farm?
Our mission is to provide healthy food in a way that is good for the community and environment. We do this by operating a sustainability-oriented grass farm using rotational grazing and principles from permaculture, biomimicry and biodynamics. We currently raise sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, pygmy goats, organic seed, plums, produce, blackberries and more. The farm is also home to a miniature donkey named Precious, and Stella, a white Anatolian Shepherd sheepdog.
When Can I Come By?
Come out when it works for you. Bring family and friends! There is always something to see or do on the farm. Please call ahead (360-854-9188) or email us at info@woolleyfarms.com to make sure we can get you started.
The farm is located about five miles east of downtown Sedro-Woolley off of Highway 20 (the North Cascades Highway). Feel free to read the Volunteer Orientation before your first visit.
What Can I Help With?
We welcome your creativity in contributing to Woolley Farms. There are many opportunities for you to try out something you don’t have space for in the city. This is only a selection of tasks available on the farm, so please contact us if you have an idea not listed here.
Feeding and caring for the animals. This includes daily chicken and duck feeding, goat hoof trimming, currying the donkey, and more.
Mowing and Weeding. There’s always mowing, scything, hand-pulling, or other methods of grass/weed control to do.
Fencing. Moving the electric or staked fencing frequently is crucial to keeping the animals on fresh grass.
Building and Trades.
Garden. We welcome gardeners who are looking for a place to grow things or contribute to the efforts already in place.
Fruit Harvesting. Come and harvest and/or can the fruit each season.
Tree and Shrub Care.
Wood Collection, Chopping and Sorting.
Cleaning and Organizing.
Media. Do you like to take pictures or write? We welcome people who want to help document the journey of Woolley Farms.
Art and Cob Structures. The farm is a good place to try different outdoor art.
Wildcrafting. There are numerous plants around the property that can be harvested (nettles, dandelions, vines, etc.) for food or craft purposes.
